The Capitol Hill Arts Workshop's (CHAW's) mission is to build community through the arts. It is a community-based, not-for-profit organization founded in 1972 by Sally Crowell and other community members who were interested in sharing their artistic expertise with children and adults. CHAW is a multi-disciplinary, multi-generational hub of creative activity. The building houses an art gallery, black box theatre, full ceramics studio with wheels and a kiln, open darkroom and digital studio for photography, a large art studio, and a dance studio. The Center specializes in bringing together diverse ideas, people, and art forms to share, connect, and build community through the arts.
